Former UFC fighter Nate Diaz is a big fan of the organization, but there’s one thing he thinks needs to change.
At UFC 279, Nate Diaz said goodbye to the UFC, at least for now. By winning by submission against Tony Ferguson, the Stockton native ended a legendary career with the promotion that saw him become a huge star. Leaving the place where he made himself known to explore other horizons, Diaz will step into a boxing ring for the first time this weekend to face Jake Paul, moreover a fight broke out in press conference. Once that boxing fight is in the rearview mirror, Diaz and the UFC could team up for a comeback in the future.

Nate Diaz wanted to wear his own clothes
That said, while the deal appears to have ended on good terms, things haven’t always been smooth between Diaz and the promotion. During an interview on The Full Send Podcast, Diaz was asked his thoughts on how he feels about the UFC and if he would change anything within the MMA organization.
Everyone expected Nate Diaz to get angry with the UFC after his victory over Ferguson last year at UFC 279. Instead, he thanked the promotion despite their efforts to make him face Khamzat Chimaev when he left.
If there’s one thing he blamed the UFC for before leaving, it was his recent shoe deal with Project Rock. The UFC forces its fighters to wear head-to-toe self-chosen clothing without reaping the slightest benefit, the promotion’s contracts have long been the subject of controversy. The days when a fighter could represent their own sponsors within the UFC are long gone and Diaz has never been one to play by the rules.
On The Full Send Podcast, Diaz admitted that although he is a UFC fan, the one thing he would change is that fighters can wear whatever they want.
“Yeah, but it’s the biggest promotion in the world and it’s got the biggest fighters, the biggest fighter names and I think the UFC is pretty awesome, pretty legit. Yes, there are things I would change, but it’s personal, I wouldn’t want to dress like everyone else, everyone looks the same and that kind of thing, it’s not football, I like to wear what i want. But they’ve taken it into their own hands, they’re doing a good job and I think it’s going to be the best thing for a long time. »
Nate Diaz now seems to have buried the hatchet with the UFC.
