The 2025 General Assembly of the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Union marked an exceptional historic moment, bringing together sports leaders from around the globe, both in-person and virtually, reflecting the strength and unity of the Jiu-Jitsu community. Joao Silva, President of the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (SJJIF), emphasized the significance of the event, noting that every general assembly demonstrates the Union’s strength and the wisdom underpinning the development of the sport.
“I left the venue inspired and excited. We communicated, collaborated, and strengthened the foundations of our sport. Today, we welcomed new leaders, elected new national federations, and established two new continental federations, marking a historic milestone for the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu family,” said Joao Silva. The Assembly also officially welcomed the new leaders of South American federations, reflecting the ongoing global expansion of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Jamal Soussi, journalist and SJJIF member, highlighted that the United Arab Emirates, pioneers in supporting Jiu-Jitsu and popularizing it globally, represent a successful model. He added that collaboration between the enlightened leadership in Abu Dhabi and the SJJIF under Joao Silva could yield tangible results from the very first day of the global union, further solidifying Jiu-Jitsu’s position as a prestigious international sport.
The upcoming World Championship, starting tomorrow, is more than a competition; it is a global showcase of Jiu-Jitsu culture and values. “Every match, every division, every black belt final is part of the story we are writing together,” the President stated. Fans are encouraged to attend early, follow the matches, share photos and videos, making this championship a springboard for the Union’s growth and legacy worldwide.
The message is clear: this is our moment to show the world the strength, beauty, and unity of our organization, and our commitment to serve the Jiu-Jitsu community at the highest level. Follow the event live: YouTube SJJIF and share with official hashtags: #SJJIF #Worlds2025 #togetherwearestronger.
