Video – Jon Jones, Francis Ngannou share tense face off at PFL 5: ‘You don’t want no smoke’

Francis Ngannou believes Jon Jones felt “the pressure” during their clash at the PFL event in Atlanta.

The two heavyweight stars ran into each other on Friday at 2023 PFL 5, which went down at Overtime Elite Arena in Atlanta. Ngannou, who’s now with PFL, was there to watch the event and discuss his signing during the broadcast, while Jones was there to corner his teammate Maurice Greene, who competed in the event’s headliner.

Both Jon Jones (27-1) and Francis Ngannou (17-3) were on the Professional Fighters League regular season fight card in Atlanta, Georgia. The “Predator” was there for promotional purposes, while “Bones” was there to corner his friend and teammate Maurice Greene. While it was uncertain whether Ngannou and Jones would end up crossing paths, MMA fans got their wish granted when the heavyweight kings came face to face and exchanged words. Jon Jones was heard saying to Francis Ngannou: “You know you don’t want any smoke”, to which the Franco-Cameroonian replied: “You know I want all the smoke”.

The two men finally shook hands out of respect and went their separate ways. That didn’t stop Francis Ngannou from taunting Jon Jones about their recent evening altercation on Twitter.

confrontation with the reigning UFC heavyweight champion.

Bones has yet to respond to the message, but knowing the UFC heavyweight champion, a rebuttal should be soon. Jon Jones won the vacant Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight title last March at UFC 285, needing just 124 seconds to finish off former interim titleholder Ciryl Gane by submission.

As for Francis Ngannou, “The Predator” signed on with the PFL last month after being offered “equity and leadership” roles within the company. In addition to a seat on the Athlete Advisory Council and the role of president of PFL Africa, the deal also allows Ngannou to seek to stage his own boxing bouts.
