“Conor McGregor Praises Alex Pereira and Calls for a Heavyweight Showdown with Jon Jones”

Conor McGregor, the MMA superstar, shared his thoughts on Alex Pereira after the Brazilian’s victory at UFC 307, expressing his desire to see “Poatan” face the undisputed champion, Jon Jones.

Alex Pereira, who joined the UFC in 2021, continues to break records in the light heavyweight division. Last weekend, he successfully defended his title for the third time in just 175 days, surpassing the previous record held by Ronda Rousey at 189 days. In his latest bout against Khalil Rountree Jr. at UFC 307, Pereira stopped his opponent with a brutal TKO after a fierce battle. Despite feeling comfortable in the light heavyweight category (under 93 kg), he hasn’t ruled out a potential move to heavyweight in the future.

This anticipated showdown with Jon Jones has caught the attention of many, including Conor McGregor. In a recent interview on Schmo’s YouTube channel, McGregor stated that he believes Alex Pereira should be at the top of the UFC’s pound-for-pound rankings.

He also expressed his desire to see Pereira move up to heavyweight to face Jon Jones:

“I believe Alex is number one pound-for-pound right now. I also think he poses a big challenge for Jon Jones. His style is dangerous, but he’s not as big as some of the other heavyweights. Jon hasn’t had a real test in this division yet after his one fight against Ciryl Gane. Alex might be the most dangerous opponent he’s ever faced.”

Jon Jones will defend his heavyweight title for the first time on November 16 at UFC 309 against Stipe Miocic, in what could potentially be Jones’ last fight.
