Sean Brady is eyeing a matchup against Ian Machado Garry or Colby Covington for his next fight in the welterweight division.
Last night, Sean Brady secured the biggest victory of his career to date. He defeated Gilbert Burns by unanimous decision, thus establishing himself as one of the top contenders in the 77 kg division.
While some had hoped for a finish, Brady put on a solid performance. Naturally, many are already wondering what’s next for Brady in the division.
It’s unlikely he’ll be next in line for a title shot, but if he can secure another emphatic victory, he could be close.
Sean Brady Wants Covington and Garry
During his post-fight press conference, Sean Brady discussed his next potential opponent.
Brady told reporters backstage: “I think Ian thinks he’s God’s gift, but he’s not, and I feel like everyone in this sport thinks the same thing.” He continued, “I’ll fight him. I’ll fight Colby (Covington). I think Colby is the easiest opponent in the division. I’ll tear him apart on his feet. I’ll knock him out.”
“I’d like to fight Ian – he’s a newcomer. I’m a bit older than him, but I want to stay here for a long time. He’s undefeated and very popular. Before, he said he wouldn’t fight guys ranked below him, but I’m going to move ahead of him on Tuesday, to sixth place. So yes, maybe he’ll fight me. We’ll see what happens.”
