Khabib Nurmagomedov turned down huge offer from UFC, find out how much

Khabib Nurmagomedov would have refused an offer from the UFC amounting to tens of millions of dollars according to Daniel Cormier.

Khabib Nurmagomedov hung up his gloves in October 2020 after defeating Justin Gaethje in the second round of the main event of UFC 254. The decision was made in part due to the death of his father and trainer, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, and the promise what he told his mother not to fight anymore. The Dagestani left the octagon leaving behind a record of 29-0.

Since retiring, Khabib has often been asked for a comeback. Recently, rumors stated that ‘The Eagle’ would be at UFC 300. However, each time, the former lightweight champion denies or refuses. Furthermore, according to Daniel Cormier, the native of Makhachkala would have refused an offer worth several tens of millions of dollars from the UFC. ‘DC’ spoke on his Youtube channel.

Khabib turns down $40 million offer

Daniel Cormier doubts Khabib Nurmagomedov would entertain coming back for UFC 300.

With UFC CEO Dana White teasing a mega card for April 13, Chael Sonnen theorized a potential return for Nurmagomedov on that card.

But “The Eagle’s” longtime teammate Cormier revealed that former undefeated UFC lightweight champion Nurmagomedov recently turned down a massive offer to fight again.

“We did a top 30 UFC fighters of all time. Khabib told us he turned down $40 million,” Cormier said on his YouTube channel. “That dude said $40 million to come back – to fight in the UFC. I don’t know how many fights he was meaning. I don’t know what he meant. But he just said, ‘I turned away $40 million, brother. I am done.’ I don’t know what would prompt him to come back if he’s turning that type of money away two years ago.”

Cormier says Nurmagomedov has even been shying away from life under the spotlight as a coach.

“Khabib Nurmagomedov turned down $40,000,000 to fight again. This guy said $40,000,000 to come back.

I don’t know what would make him come back if he refuses so much money. Despite occasional thoughts of a comeback crossing Khabib’s mind, his unwavering commitment to a promise he made to his mother takes over. He just said, ‘I turned down $40,000,000, brother. I finished.'”

To ensure his succession, Khabib can count on a large number of fighters, including his childhood friend Islam Makhachev. The latter is the current UFC lightweight champion, and scored a knockout victory over Alexander Volkanovski last October.
