In the preliminary card of UFC Vegas 84, Frenchman Taylor Lapilus challenged the undefeated Farid Basharat in bantamweight. Unfortunately, he bowed.

Round 1: Taylor Lapilus takes the center of the Octagon. Quickly, Farid Basharat sends good leg kicks, but is also dangerous with middle kicks. The Afghan attempts takedowns, but ‘Double Impact’ defends remarkably well. Standing up, the Frenchman puts pressure and frustrates Basharat. The latter attempts takedowns, but without real success.
Round 2: After numerous attempts, Basharat takes Lapilus to the ground. On his back, the Frenchman is under pressure from the Afghan. Farid Basharat accelerates with elbows at the end of the restart.
Round 3: Farid Basharat insists with takedowns. On his back, Lapilus cannot resist the opposing pressure. ‘Ferocious’ takes a favorable position, and exhausts the Frenchman. At the end of the recovery, ‘Double Impact’ is close to being submitted but resists until the end.
In the end, Farid Basharat won by unanimous decision against Taylor Lapilus (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).
Thus, the Afghan maintains its invincibility and improves its record to 12-0. ‘Ferocious’ is seriously approaching the top 15 of the bantamweight division, today dominated by Sean O’Malley.
