UFC São Paulo – Jailton Almeida rolls over Derrick Lewis with record control time

In the main event of the UFC São Paulo, Jailton Almeida and Derrick Lewis were opposed at heavyweight. The Brazilian won the decision.

Round 1: Quickly, Almeida takes Lewis to the ground and takes the mounted position. In total domination, the Brazilian is on the verge of submitting ‘The Black Beast’ several times. But the American resisted very well despite the delicate positions, and finished the round.

Round 2: Once again, Jailton Almeida validates the takedown on the American. The BJJ specialist tirelessly tries to submit Derrick Lewis, but the latter defends well on the ground. He moves and frees himself from the strangulation attempts despite the pressure put by the Brazilian.

Round 3: Lewis finds himself on his back again. In the mounted position, Almeida works ground & pound. The roles reverse for a few seconds, and the Brazilian regains the upper hand. Aggressive, ‘Malhadinho’ doesn’t come close to finishing off his opponent at the end of the restart.

Round 4: New takedown by Almeida. Despite the dominant position, the Brazilian fails to submit Derrick Lewis. The latter only resists.

Round 5: Standing up, ‘The Black Beast’ tries to make his striking speak but is overtaken by reality. He is taken to the ground again and ends up on his back. Almeida still dominates, and scores a control time of almost 20 minutes.

In the end, Jailton Almeida beats Derrick Lewis by unanimous decision (50-44, 50-44, 50-45) and signs his sixth victory in the UFC after total domination.

‘Malhadinho’ improves his record to 20-2 and is now aiming for the top of the basket.
