Jon Jones Won’t Retire at UFC 295 According to Former Training Partner

Jon Jones will face Stipe Miocic in what appears to be the biggest fight in heavyweight history and all indications are that ‘Bones’ will retire afterward.

After returning to Abu Dhabi in October, the UFC will return to New York for a new pay per view which promises to be exciting at Madison Square Garden. The main event of UFC 295, which takes place on November 11, will see the legendary Jon Jones return to the octagon to defend his new heavyweight title of the world against Stipe Miocic for the first time. “Bones” added the heavyweight belt to his collection after two reigns in the lower division by dominating ex-interim champion Ciryl Gane in his division debut in March.

No retirement for Jones Jones?

To expand his illustrious CV, Jon Jones will then have to succeed in retaining the gold against Stipe Miocic, the greatest heavyweight of all time. Win or lose, it appears retirement is on the cards, as the Rochester native hinted on social media.

A fighter who made her MMA debut with Jon Jones does not see him hanging up his gloves. After building a legacy in boxing, where she was a world champion in three weight classes, Claressa Shields branched out into MMA in 2021. Under the PFL banner, she owns a record of 1-1 that She hopes to improve in the SmartCage after signing a new contract with the promotion earlier this year.

Before first diving into the MMA waters, Shields developed his skills at the Jackson Wink MMA Academy. It was there that she received advice from a prominent and successful martial artist in Jones.

“I don’t think Jonny ‘Bones’ can retire. He’s too much of an animal,” Shields said. “What is he going to do without fighting? And without training? It’s like he needs it. So I think he will win and keep fighting until he can’t do it anymore. »

Before his return to the cage next year, Shields will look to improve his MMA skills without the help of Jones, who was barred from the Albuquerque gym following a domestic violence arrest in 2021.

Nonetheless, the boxing champion will be cheering on her former training partner at UFC 295 on November 11, where she hopes to see Jones emerge victorious before continuing his reign on the heavyweight throne.
