UFC welterweight fighter Gilbert Burns shared his thoughts on Leon Edwards vs. Colby Covington.
Leon Edwards and Colby Covington are expected to face off for the welterweight title before the end of the year. In March, Leon Edwards returned to the cage to secure a second straight victory against former division champion Kamaru Usman. After his first title defense, the Briton called out ‘Chaos’ (Colby Covington), who was sitting at the edge of the octagon. For his part, the division’s former interim champion, Colby Covington, has not fought since his victory over Jorge Masvidal in March 2022.
“Leon will win”
In an interview with MiddleEasy, Gilbert Burns discussed this potential future fight. The Brazilian is sure of himself: Leon Edwards will win.
“Leon will win any day of the week. I think he has a much better shot, very strong, super good shot. With distance management and control, his grappling defense has improved a lot, and his grappling is super underrated. I think Leon is very, very good, but because he doesn’t fight that often, people underestimate him a little. I think he’s very, very good. I think he’s going to beat Colby and I think he’s going to beat Belal Muhammad. »
Although nothing is official, the fight between Leon Edwards and Colby Covington is expected to take place at the end of the year.
