However, Tyson Fury does not see Stipe Miocic beating ‘Bony’. Indeed, according to him, there is only one fighter who can achieve this currently and it is a person with whom he has trained and still trains: Tom Aspinall. Here’s what he said (via TNT Sports):
“Jon Jones is the Tyson Fury of boxing. People can’t beat him. It’s very difficult. Even though Tom Aspinall is a friend, Jon Jones is probably considered the best of all time in MMA, so I don’t know. It’s probably like anyone could beat Wladimir Klitschko before Tyson Fury beat him. Everyone thought it was impossible, but then Tyson Fury beat him. So if anyone can beat Jon Jones, it will be Tom Aspinall. Nobody else” .
Then, Fury also said that Aspinall could do very well in pro boxing:
“I have him with me as a training partner to prepare me to face a UFC champion. He is a good fighter, who probably could have become a professional boxer. I’m pretty sure he would have won a world championship. But his knee derailed him, and everything stopped. Today, he returns to the forefront. I think he can do it. He’s big enough, he has the power, he’s a black belt in jiu-jitsu.”
Tom Aspinall, for the moment, only thinks about MMA and recently called Ciryl Gane, but the latter is not interested in fighting and prefers to concentrate on the heavyweight belt.
