Amanda Nunes had just completely dominated Irene Aldana at UFC 289 toward yet another bantamweight world championship defense.

Headlining UFC 289 was bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes defending her title against Irene Aldana. The Brazilian won after total domination.

She sprawled her bantamweight and featherweight world titles out in the center of the Octagon, before asking her team to cut her gloves. Once they obliged, Nunes placed her gloves down between her titles.

And she let it be known before all those at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, Canada, and the many more watching at home.

The 35-year-old legend added that her mom has been asking her to retire for so long and that she wants to be with her family while still young enough to enjoy them.

Nunes entered the Octagon as the widely-regarded women’s MMA GOAT and leaves that way with Saturday night’s victory passing Jessica Andrade for most wins in UFC women’s history with 16. Nunes’ latest win came after she avenged a December 2021 loss to Julianna Pena by defeating her rival via unanimous decision last July.

Nunes’ thoroughly dominated a game, yet outclassed Aldana with six takedowns and 147 significant strikes in her latest unanimous decision victory.

Over the course of Nunes’ legendary career, she holds victories over the likes of Ronda Rousey, Holly Holm, Valentina Shevchenko (twice), Cris Cyborg and Pena to name a few.

Nunes closes out her career with a 23-5 record with 13 knockouts.
