Zebaztian Kadestam Reveals Game Plan Against Isi Fitikefu, Eyes Knockout Win
Former ONE Welterweight MMA world champion Zebaztian Kadestam is looking to use his striking skills to knockout Isi Fitikefu when he makes his highly anticipated return to ONE Championship at ONE Fight Night 31: Kongthoranee vs Nong-O II.
Kadestam and Fitikefu are set to face each other in a pivotal welterweight MMA in the show that kicks off at 3:00 AM Mecca on Saturday, May 3, inside Bangkok’s iconic LumpineeStadium.
Ahead of the contest, the Swedish star says he is looking to lean on his dangerous striking arsenal and counter his opponent’s pressure to avoid being dragged onto the mat.
“My game plan is always the same. I’ve never wrestled, so I’m never gonna wrestle. And it’s not a secret. So it’s kind of putting focus on getting my body to do what my mind wants to do, and being sharp, and being able to let my mind decide, and my body will follow,” Zadestam said.
“I believe he’s gonna try to put that pressure and to put that pace on the fight where he’s able to grind and able to wrestle, and that’s where I don’t want to be, right? I’m gonna try to take the pace down a little bit and pick him apart, and he’s gonna try to do the opposite. So, we will see. I think it’s gonna be back and forth, and I think it’s gonna be a fun fight,” he added.
Kadestam most recently scored a memorable knockout victory against Croatian star Roberto Soldic in May 2023 and is riding a three-win-streak. Knowing that he could be one win away from securing a world title shot against titleholder Christian Lee, the Swedish star hopes to keep his 100% finish rate intact with another knockout win.
“I’m gonna do everything I can to knock him out. First, second, or third round. I’m gonna try to find a finish. I don’t really have a prediction, but I will do my best to knock him out,” Kadestamsaid.
