Jon Jones will not face Stipe Miocic at UFC 295 due to a pectoral injury. Francis Ngannou reacted to the news.
Much to the dismay of MMA fans, Jon Jones will not defend his heavyweight title on November 11. While preparing to face Stipe Miocic at Madison Square Garden in New York during UFC 295, the 36-year-old injured his pec (watch the video here). Jones, like Miocic, would have most likely hung up his gloves after this fight… That will have to wait. Instead, No. 4 heavyweight Tom Aspinall will face No. 2 Sergei Pavlovich for the division’s interim belt in the co-main event of UFC 295.
Jon Jones injury will cause the UFC heavyweight champion to be out of the ring for a month?
When asked about the interim heavyweight title bout between Sergei Pavlovich and Tom Aspinall, Ngannou said:
“I haven’t taken a look into that fight. I haven’t think about that fight. I just saw the Jon Jones cancellation today. I was even surprised that they didn’t get a replacement for Stipe.”
Francis Ngannou reacts to the "sad news" of Jon Jones' injury and wishes his rival a healthy recovery. 🙏#FuryNgannou | @MikeBohn's interview: https://t.co/2UbsWjqMmK pic.twitter.com/599KSzraJF
