In a preliminary bout at featherweight, Joanderson Brito (14-3-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) violently knocked out Westin Wilson (16-8 MMA, 0-1 UFC), a rated underdog at 14 against 1, when attempting to submit. The stoppage of the fight came at 2:54 of the first round.
Wilson was a last-minute substitute who took the place of Khusein Askhabov who had retired, and he was soon met with characteristic fury from Brito. Wilson managed to bring him to the ground. Once on the ground, Wilson attempted a submission. After failing, Brito unleashed powerful punches that eventually knocked Wilson out.
After the fight, Brito spoke in English during his octagon interview calling featherweight Dan Ige and Alex Caceres to a fight in Brazil in November. Brito has won three straight since losing his first promotional bout to Bill Algeo.
Wilson ended his three-game winning streak with the loss.
