After the event, the media ESPN raised Tom Aspinall to first place in its own heavyweight rankings. In an article published on ESPN, journalist Brett Okamoto explained the decision to rank Aspinall above reigning champion and sports legend Jon Jones. Furthermore, the latter should be sidelined from competition for many months due to a pectoral injury.
