Sean Strickland has started hostilities against his next opponent, middleweight champion Israel Adesanya.
It’s official, Israel Adesanya will attempt a sixth title defense at middleweight against number 5 Sean Strickland. The two athletes will square off in the main event of UFC 293, which takes place Sept. 10 in Sydney, Australia.
Unsurprisingly, Sean Strickland has already launched hostilities. The American has a strong character, and does not hesitate to use his trash-talking. On X, ‘Tarzan’ mocked the defending champ.
Meh I'll get it worked out…..
To war china man…. 🇺🇸 vs 🇨🇳
— Sean Strickland (@SStricklandMMA) August 8, 2023
“Dude, I’ll arrange…To make war on a Chinese man,” Strickland wrote. The 32-year-old fighter continued the provocation by claiming that he would bring women displaying Chinese flags during the UFC 293 press conference. These references to China are due to the fact that Israel Adesanya has lived in China for his career as a kickboxer.
Originally, Israel Adesanya was set to face Division No. 1 Dricus Du Plessis for his next title defense. The two men had several big differences, and intended to settle them in the octagon. However, the South African was injured during his fight against Robert Whittaker, which he won by TKO in the second round. Either way, UFC 293 fight week promises to be eventful.
