This Sunday, Algeria’s Nabil Anane Could Become Second ONE World Champion From MENA
Algeria’s Muay Thai star Nabil Anane is on the cusp of becoming the second ONE world champion from the MENA region.
ONE Interim Bantamweight Muay Thai world champion Anane faces a mammoth task to unify the world title against current titleholder Superlek Kiatmoo9 this Sunday, March 23 at ONE 172: Takeru vs Rodtang.
Anane hopes to join Morocco’s Ilias Ennahachi who remains the only MENA athlete to be crowned undisputed world champion and also the only man to beat Superlek at ONE Championship.
Anane has been in stunning form, capturing six consecutive victories, against top opponents including former world title challenger Felipe Lobo and Lethwei legend Soe Lin Oo.
The Algerian star, who captured three of those wins through finishes, most recently dominated and beat Scotland’s Nico Carrillo via technical knockout.
Despite suffering his only promotional defeat on his debut in 2023 against Superlek, Anane has shown marked improvement in his overall game since the two men first fought at ONE Friday Fights 22.
ONE 172: Takeru vs Rodtang kicks off at 10 AM Mecca on Sunday, March 23. Fans can watch it worldwide on pay-per-view.
