The Man Who “Defeated” Jon Jones Sends a Message to the Champion and Dana White: “Let’s Set This Right…”

Former UFC fighter Matt Hamill has a proposal for heavyweight champion Jon Jones and UFC President Dana White.

Matt Hamill currently holds the only victory over Jon Jones from their 2009 bout, where Jones was disqualified for throwing a series of 12-to-6 elbows, which were deemed illegal strikes. Earlier this week, the Association of Boxing Commissions (ABC) approved a rule change making such elbows legal in the future. Jones responded to the news on social media, asking Dana White to help him officially erase the loss from his record.

The Man Who Beat Jon Jones Wants a Rematch

The former “The Ultimate Fighter” star and the first deaf competitor in UFC history has weighed in on the matter and proposed a rematch against Jon Jones to settle the issue once and for all.

“I know you’re ready to do anything to ensure Jon Jones has an undefeated record. I understand you want to capitalize on him! [That’s also why he’s been kept away from other things. What about revenge? I’d be happy to fight him for the heavyweight title. If I beat him, I want the UFC belt. Let me know if Stipe Miocic retires. I’d take the fight on short notice, but remember he’s already lost to me.]”

Hamill has fought in the octagon 15 times, winning 10 of those bouts. “The Hammer” has not competed in the UFC since his loss to Thiago Silva at UFC Fight Night 29 almost 11 years ago. However, Hamill has continued to win regional fights, including a split decision victory at Pennsylvania’s Maverick MMA promotion in his last bout in April 2018.
