Decorated Thai striker Panpayak Jitmuangnon is set to return to action at ONE Championship for the first time since December 2022.
Panpayak faces Romanian counterpart Silviu Vitez in a flyweight Muay Thai contest at ONE Friday Fights 83 on Friday, October 18 inside Bangkok’s iconic Lumpinee Stadium.
Panpayak, who boasts a 4-2 record in ONE, is a master technician known for his powerful punches and kicks and only lost to current two-sport ONE world champion Superlek Kiatmoo.
The 28-year-old Thai fighter, who is nicknamed “The Angel Warrior”, knows that a win may put him on track towards challenging for divisional gold in the future, especially that he produced an excellent performance in his most recent outing against Superlek, only losing via split-decision after a tight battle.
On the other hand, Vitez needs to secure a win after suffering two consecutive defeats at ONE Friday Fights series and has picked up only one win in five bouts since making his debut in January 2023.
The 30-year-old Romanian athlete has long been regarded as one of Europe’s top Muay Thai talents and his fast-paced, aggressive style has earned him world championships in kickboxing and Muay Thai outside ONE.
ONE Friday Fights 83 kicks off at 3:30 Mecca on Friday, October 18 and will be broadcast live via beIN SPORTS.
