Superlek Knocks Out Jonathan Haggerty in Under a Minute

ONE Championship superstar Superlek Kiatmoo became a two-sport world champion after dethroning ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai world champion Jonathan Haggerty in the main event of ONE 168: Denver.

Superlek’s win came via knockout within 49 seconds of the very first round, hitting a powerful elbow strike that dropped the Brit who was unable to answer the referee’s count.

Haggerty started with vicious hand combinations and targeted Superlek’s legs, but the latter’s quick movements made it difficult for the Brit to land his kicks successfully.

The surprising turning point happened when Haggerty advanced forward with a hasty right punch that Superlek evaded and countered with a right elbow.

Superlek’s 13th consecutive victory snaps Haggerty’s six-win-streak and crowns the Thai star as a two-sport world champion at ONE Championship, having entered the bout as the ONE Flyweight Kickboxing world champion.

Superlek had beaten Haggerty before outside ONE Championship and now makes it two wins from two fights against his old foe.

Martial arts fans watched ONE 168: Denver, ONE Championship’s second ever event in the United States, earlier today where nine fights took place inside a packed Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado.

In November, ONE Championship will return to the United States with ONE 169: Atlanta which will be headlined by Anatoly Malykhin vs Oumar Kane for the ONE Heavyweight MMA world title.
