ONE Flyweight Kickboxing world champion Superlek Kiatmoo intends to beat Jonathan Haggerty in their rematch at ONE Championship event ONE 168: Denver on September 7 to silence any doubts about who is the better fighter.
Superlek had picked up a win over current ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai and Kickboxing world champion in 2018 outside ONE Championship in a bout that ended with a TKO after the referee stopped the fight – a result that did not convince the whole crowd.
Superlek now aims to prove he deserved the win, saying: “Haggerty has always been someone [I wanted] a rematch with since our first match in 2018. That fight was stopped by the ref. I won by TKO, but the crowd wasn’t happy. There was a lot of booing as if I didn’t deserve to win. I want to prove that I can still win the fight without a ref stopping it prematurely.”
Setting his eyes on bantamweight Muay Thai gold, the Thai megastar promises to bring an ultra-aggressive version of himself to the US event.
“This fight will be the first time ever I’ll go 100 percent all out, putting a lot of pressure. I will be aggressive. Fans may know us as technical fighters, but they can expect an explosive fight,” he said.
“I’m looking for a knockout. It’s high risk. I may lose my record of never being knocked out in my entire career, but I’m going for it. I’m giving my all for this fight,” he added.
ONE 168: Denver kicks off live from the Ball Arena at 3:00 AM Mecca on Saturday, September 7. It will be broadcast live on beIN SPORTS in the MENA region.
