Round 3: Once again, the Brazilian is shaken by the former champion of the category. Paulo Costa tries to enter the clinch, but Strickland defends well. The Californian always stays one step ahead of his opponent, and appears comfortable.
Round 4: Sean Strickland continues to unfold, without being worried. Always in the center of the cage, he lets his boxing speak and is more active than Costa. The latter continues his work of low kicks, but Strickland is not bothered.
Round 5: The number 1 middleweight sends good jabs which bother Costa. Sean Strickland sends big combinations which shake the Brazilian at the very end of the fight. What a performance from ‘Tarzan’!

In the end, Sean Strickland won by split decision (49-46, 50-45, 46-49). The American remains number 1 in the division, and has demanded a title fight.
