Controversial Sean O’Malley said he has a strong feeling that Dustin Poirier will accomplish the seemingly impossible. “The Diamond” faces his final UFC title fight when he faces Islam Makhachev for the undisputed lightweight title. While the champion doesn’t believe Dustin’s infamous guillotine will work, O’Malley expects the opposite.
Sean O’Malley made his position clear in the conversation. It’s Team Dustin Poirier when it comes to whether or not he can successfully lock in a guillotine.
On the latest episode of his podcast TimboSugarShow, the conversation headed toward Dustin’s guillotine. Although Dustin has never introduced anyone with him during his UFC career, O’Malley launched into a prediction mid-conversation.
“I believe in fate, my friend. Guillotine Muslim No. 2 by Dustin Poirier, that’s what I’m thinking. No, that’s what I know will happen.”
In a related context, Sean O’Malley revealed his plans for this year. The UFC champion is currently looking to set up his next title defense against Merab Dvalishvili.
He added that he wants to fight the Georgian at The Sphere at UFC 306. However, in the same podcast episode, he gave a date update in a clip uploaded by Championship Rounds on X,

Sean O’Malley believes The Sphere fight may be doubtful. Well, yes, in all likelihood he won’t get a fight at The Sphere for UFC 306 as it happens to coincide with the Mexican Independence Day. And Dana White made it very clear that he wants Mexican fighters for the same.
He was so adamant about it that he even poured water over a potential Conor McGregor vs. Nate Diaz trilogy fight at the venue. So, it would suffice to say, O’Malley is not getting that date he’s been angling for.
