Leon Edwards will defend his welterweight title against Belal Muhammad at UFC 304 this weekend in Manchester. As fans eagerly await their second clash, Robert Whittaker has shared his analysis of the highly anticipated fight.
In their previous encounter, Edwards and Muhammad faced off with Edwards emerging victorious after a controversial eye poke. Now, Edwards returns to defend his title for the third time after reclaiming the belt with a knockout win over Kamaru Usman, and then successfully defending it against Colby Covington.
After his recent win over Ikram Aliskerov, Whittaker took the opportunity to share his thoughts on the upcoming fight in the MMarcade podcast. He praised Edwards’ skills and discussed potential scenarios for the bout.
Whittaker said, “I see two possible outcomes. First, Leon Edwards is operating at an extremely high level. I believe Edwards’ skill level is significantly higher than Belal Muhammad’s. His performance against Usman was outstanding, and he handled Colby Covington with great skill. While Covington represents a major challenge for everyone, Edwards managed to overcome him effectively. Unlike some previous challenges Edwards faced, there were no noticeable weaknesses in his recent fight.”
He continued, “From what I’ve seen, Edwards has become more resilient and stronger. While Belal Muhammad is talented in many areas, I believe Edwards will have a tough time executing his game plan against him. In my opinion, Muhammad will struggle to overcome Edwards.”
