Prajanchai PK Saenchai defeated Jonathan Di Bella to capture the ONE Strawweight Kickboxing world title in the main event of ONE Friday Fights 58.
The 29-year-old Thai star picked up the hard-fought victory via unanimous decision at the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
Di Bella used his reach advantage from the kick-off, targeting his Thai counterpart with punches and kicks, including push kicks that kept Prajanchai from closing the distance. The strategy worked well to limit the Thai star’s attacks for the first two rounds.
However, the balance shifted in Prajanchai’s favor in the third round as the veteran of more than 400 bouts managed to close the distance and launch straight left punches and kicks, wobbling the former divisional champion.
In the last two rounds, Prajanchai continued to show his dominance, using kicks that battered the former titleholder’s body and arms. Di Bella fired back with his trademark quick hand combinations.
In the end, all three judges handed the victory to Prajanchai who becomes the first man to defeat Di Bella in his kickboxing career.
With this win, Prajanchai improves his record to 343-52 and now holds both the ONE Strawweight Kickboxing and Muay Thai title belts.
