UFC lightweight Paddy Pimblett has spoken out about his upcoming opponent Tony Ferguson’s new workouts.
On December 16, at UFC 296, Paddy ‘The Baddy’ Pimblett will make his comeback to the octagon. The Briton has not fought since UFC 282 in December 2022, when he secured a controversial decision victory over Jared Gordon. In just over two weeks, Pimblett will face UFC legend Tony Ferguson. The latter is on a streak of six consecutive defeats, and has not won since June 2019. Most recently, in July, ‘El Cucuy’ was put to sleep by lightweight number 13, Bobby Green. In order to prepare for his fight against Pimblett, Ferguson called on a rather special coach, David Goggins. On his social networks, Tony shared videos of his intensive training with the former member of the Navy Seal.
“It’s weird”
During an interview on “The Energized Show”, Paddy Pimblett explained why he thinks these workouts are “stupid”.
“I think it’s weird and it’s stupid. If there are two things Tony has never needed help with, it’s his mind and his cardio. Look at the armbar that Charles Oliveira put him through, he didn’t hit. He’s a weirdo. Look at his cardio, he never had a problem with his cardio. So I don’t understand why he did that. He must tell himself that he is no longer mentally what he was a few years ago. But that’s not the reason he loses fights. This is because he is older, has lost his athleticism and is not as fast as he once was. »
