Nong-O vs Kongthoranee II to Headline ONE Fight Night 31
Muay Thai legend Nong-O and rising star and compatriot Kongthoranee Sor Sommai will meet in a flyweight Muay Thai rematch in the main event of ONE Fight Night 31, ONE Championship has announced.
Former ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai world champion Nong-O dominated his opponents for five years before suffering his first defeat to Jonathan Haggerty in April 2023.
Since that loss, however, the 38-year-old legend has picked up one win in four fights, losing his most recent battle against Kongthoranee in February via split decision.
While Nong-O is looking to revive his career and make a case for a future world title shot, Kongthoranee is keen to continue his meteoric rise by scoring his fourth win in a row.
Since suffering a debut loss, the 28-year-old Thai only lost against Superlek, amassing an 11-2 promotional record.
Another win against a legend such as Nong-O would only solidify the third-ranked flyweight star’s status as a future world title contender for the vacant ONE Flyweight Muay Thai world title.
ONE Fight Night 31 kicks off at 3:00 AM Mecca on Saturday, May 3 from Bangkok’s iconic Lumpinee Stadium and will be broadcast live via beIN SPORTS.
