Nicky Ryan of B-Team and Rene Sousa of 10th Planet will face off on the August card in Austin, TX in a grappling super fight with major title implications.
flograppling , It is face up Nicky Ryan will return for his first competition of 2023 when he takes on WNX and WNO veteran and rising contender Rene Sousa at the Tezos WNO 19: Meregali vs. Duarte presented by Fat Tire in Austin, TX. The two young black belts will face off at 170 lbs in one of the August 10th card’s feature bouts.
Nicky, already a three-time ADCC veteran, will be competing for the first time since the 2022 ADCC World Championships. The B-Team co-founder is 3-1 in WNO action, including wins over PJ Barch and Gabriel Almeida.
Rene Sousa returns to WNO after his kneebar victory earlier this year over Kieran Kichuk, now 1-1 on the WNO stage. The buggy choke specialist has been diversifying his game and showing new wrinkles in his debut black belt year, and now takes on one of the biggest names of his career in Ryan. Rene was also a contestant on Who’s Next, where the 10th Planet competitor made the semifinals.
