After losing to Jake Paul in his first boxing fight, Nate Diaz could get his revenge in MMA.
Last weekend, Nate Diaz made his boxing debut. The Stockton native took on YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in a 10-round fight. After suffering a knockdown in the 5th round, Diaz lost by unanimous decision of the judges (98-91, 97-92, 97-92). After the clash, a rematch in MMA was mentioned. This time around, the two athletes would face off in Nate Diaz’s backyard.
Paul continues to be the most successful of the influencer boxer movement. He already holds four wins over former UFC fighters and is eyeing up a fifth as the favorite to win the spectacle against Diaz.
It will also be his opportunity to gain back some credibility after suffering his first loss to Tommy Fury in his last bout.
For Diaz, it’s the first time he’ll be lacing up the gloves and could be the beginning of a nice second career.
The first odds have fallen. For the moment, the bookmakers see Nate Diaz as the ultra favorite with odds of around 1.1. Jake Paul is considered the outsider with odds of 7.50. It makes sense when you consider that Nate Diaz spent over 15 years in the biggest MMA organization in the world, the UFC.
During his last appearance in the octagon, in September 2022, Nate Diaz submitted Tony Ferguson in the 4th round. Since then, the ‘Stockton Slugger’ is no longer part of the organization, but does not close the door to a return. Jake Paul suffered his first loss in the ring against Tommy Fury in February 2023. In total, ‘The Problem Child’ has 7 wins and 1 loss in professional boxing. The MMA fight between Diaz and Paul is expected to take place at the PFL. Also, Jake Paul made a $10 million offer to Nate Diaz.
