Nassourdine Imavov eyes return to UFC Paris after no-contest against Chris Curtis

After UFC 289, number 12 in the middleweight division, Nassourdine Imavov, hopes to fight in front of his home crowd at UFC Paris.

This weekend, top 15 middleweight members Nassourdine Imavov and Chris Curtis squared off at UFC 289 in Vancouver. Both men were looking to get back to winning ways following their conceded decision loss to Sean Strickland and Kelvin Gastelum respectively.

The first part of the fight was completely dominated by the tricolor fighter. Unfortunately, an accidental clash of heads caused a severe cut above Curtis’ eye, who was ruled unfit to continue by the referee. The fight therefore ended in a no-contest.

Despite this disappointing result, Nassourdin Imavov delivered a great performance thanks to which he could claim to face a member of the top 10 middleweight in his next outing. The MMA Factory athlete also hopes to return quickly to perform on the UFC Paris card on September 2.

” Hello everybody. First of all thanks again for the support. And I want to tell you that even if there is really frustration that the fight stopped like that in the middle, at least the consolation is that I had time to show you my progress”, a writes Imavov on Instagram the day after UFC 289.

“I am no longer the same fighter”

“After the last fight against Strickland we learned so much. And we wanted to show you that I am no longer the same fighter. There we started this quiet fight… Because the gameplan was to accelerate and hurt more and more in the second part of the fight. We are really disappointed not to have been able to show you all this. »

“Now we will try not to stay on this frustration, we are moving forward. And I hope we will see each other again for UFC Paris!”, he concluded. “Thank you to my team at the MMA Factory, to my coach Fernand Lopez, and to all those who support me. »
