Muay Thai star Zakaria El Jamari discussed his upcoming fight in ONE Championship against Aliff Sor Dechapan, revealing the game plan he has put together to beat his Thai counterpart.
El Jamari faces Aliff in a Catchweight (58 Kg) Muay Thai bout at ONE Fight Night 24 in the morning hours of Saturday inside Bangkok’s iconic Lumpinee Stadium.
Unveiling his plans for the upcoming fight, the 34-year-old Moroccan said he aims to learn from former European Muay Thai WBC champion Ellis Badr Barboza’s win against Aliff.
“I watched Barboza versus Aliff and saw that Barboza targeted Aliff from a close distance, using boxing combinations, which helped him secure the win,” El Jamari said.
“My game plan is based on applying high pressure, hitting him with low kicks to the thigh where he has low endurance. I will use my boxing skills while applying high offensive pressure and move quickly after every attack,” he added.
El Jamari picked up an impressive victory in his latest fight earlier in May against Thongpoon PK Saenchai via unanimous decision.
And despite his next opponent’s two consecutive losses, the experienced Moroccan knows the 21-year-old Thai is a dangerous athlete with a significant height and reach advantage.
“He hits powerful kicks, especially high kicks to the head. One of his strongest weapons is the flying knee. He attacks predominantly with kicks. This means that I will have to close the distance. He is taller than me and has dangerous kicks,” El Jamari said.
El Jamari faces Aliff at ONE Fight Night 24 which kicks off at 3:00 AM Mecca and is broadcast live via beIN SPORTS. The event is headlined by a ONE Interim Strawweight MMA world title between former divisional champion Jarred Brooks and third-ranked star, Cuba’s Gustavo Balart.
