Morocco’s Youssef Assouik Ahead of Facing Sinsamut Klinmee: I am the Underdog

Morocco’s Muay Thai world champion Youssef Assouik believes he enters his ONE Championship debut against Sinsamut Klinmee in October as the underdog.

Despite holding the WMC Middleweight (72.5Kg) championship, Assouik suggests his Thai opponent is the favorite for their Lightweight Muay Thai contest at ONE Fight Night 25 which kicks off at 3:00 AM Mecca on Saturday, 5 October.

After training in Denmark, where he has lived for most of his life, the Moroccan-Danish athlete recently moved to Thailand where he is putting the final touches on preparations for the bout which will take place at Bangkok’s Lumpinee Stadium.

Still, the 29-year-old fighter is confident of his skills and excited for a clash of similar styles as two adventurous fighters who like to press forward.

“He kicks and punches with his right side. He keeps distance. He will like my style, I’m an aggressive fighter. He will stand well with me. I also like his style,” Assouik said.

Assouik faces two-time ONE Lightweight Muay Thai world title challenger Sinsamut at ONE Fight Night 25 which kicks off at 3:00 AM Mecca on Saturday, 5 October and broadcasts live via beIN SPORTS.

ONE Fight Night 25 is headlined by a rematch for the ONE Lightweight Kickboxing world championship between title holder Alexis Nicolas and former champion Regian Eersel.
