During a sports evening marked by high intensity, boxing legend Mike Tyson faced the young boxer and influencer Jake Paul in an exhilarating match at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The fight, broadcast on Netflix on November 15, lasted eight rounds and ended with Tyson’s defeat by unanimous decision of the judges. Although an iconic figure in boxing, this was his first professional fight since his retirement in 2005.
Despite the opportunity to end the match with a knockout, Jake Paul was unable to do so, and the final decision was left to the judges.
Notably, this fight was initially scheduled for July but was postponed due to serious health issues faced by Tyson. After the match, Tyson, nicknamed “Iron Mike,” revealed the challenges that nearly cost him his life.
“I lost half my blood” In an emotional message posted on X (formerly Twitter), Tyson shared the complicated medical conditions he faced last summer.
“I don’t regret stepping into the ring one last time. I nearly died in June. I had eight blood transfusions, lost half my blood, and 25 pounds in the hospital. I had to fight to regain my health to be able to compete, so I consider myself a winner. The fact that my children saw me hold on and complete eight rounds against a skilled boxer half my age, in front of a packed stadium, is an experience few can dream of. Thank you all,” wrote the New York native.
At 58, the legend Mike Tyson has nothing left to prove. Last Friday, he showed the world that he still has the spirit of a fighter, holding his own against a much younger opponent. This defeat brings his official record to 50 wins and 7 losses, further cementing his legendary status in the sport.
