UFC bantamweight contender Merab Dvalishvili won’t be back in the Octagon until later in the year.
Despite his injury, Merab Dvalishvili, the current number one contender for the bantamweight division championship belt, won’t be on the sidelines for long.
Merab Dvalishvili, who is currently on a nine-game winning streak, recently underwent surgery to treat a hand injury. However, the Georgian already seems to be on the mend.
According to Oren Hodak, his manager, the 32-year-old bantamweight is expected to spend the next six to eight weeks with his hand in a splint. Once this deadline has passed, Dvalishvili will be able to resume intensive training. He should be able to use his hand and throw punches in ten to twelve weeks.
This is therefore only a minor delay in the career of Dvalishvili who is on the rise within the -61kg division. After dominating the legendary Jose Aldo, the Georgian gave the former bantamweight champion a real 5-round lesson,
