“I always welcome him,” Marvin Vettori sights eyes on Khamzat Chimaev after he faces Jared Cannonier
Marvin Vettori, the current number 3 middleweight, is ready to welcome Khamzat Chimaev when he returns to -84kg.
Khamzat Chimaev’s last octagon appearance was at UFC 279 where he fought Kevin Holland and won the fight. After that the ‘Borz’ has been out of action and his fans are getting eager to see him fight. Despite Chimaev’s claims to fight anybody at any time, the UFC has not given any particular dates for his comeback.
Marvin Vettori recently weighed in on his plans to fight Khamzat Chimaev in the future. According to Vettori, he has never backed out of any fight and is ready to take on Chimaev if the Chechen warrior wants it.
Tonight, former 185-pound title challengers Marvin Vettori and Jared Cannonier will face off in the main event of UFC Vegas 75 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The Italian will be looking for a second straight win after beating Roman Dolidze by decision last March (see recap here).
Despite being in the top 3 of the division, Vettori needs several wins to earn another title shot. Indeed, he has already lost twice to the current middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya.
Marvin Vettori is therefore ready to welcome the number 4 welterweight, Khamzat Chimaev, during his possible future return to middleweight.
“I welcome it. Yes of course. If he wants it, I’m here. I have never refused a fight. I have never retired from a fight. So please, yes, bring it too,” Vettori said of Chimaev during UFC Vegas 75 media day.
