KSW boss proposes a fight between Francis Ngannou and his champion Phil De Fries

KSW boss Martin Lewandowski wants to see Francis Ngannou take on his world heavyweight champion, Phil De Fries.

The rest of Francis Ngannou’s year will be spent on his boxing fight against Tyson Fury. Once that fight is over, he is expected to return to MMA and make his PFL debut. After completing his contract with the UFC and parting ways with the promotion earlier this year, Ngannou (17-3) signed with the PFL for an expected debut in early 2024. There is no definite opponent for him, however, and KSW co-owner Martin Lewandowski has a proposition involving his current heavyweight champion, Phil De Fries.

Francis Ngannou PFL vs Phil De Fries KSW
“For me, Phil De Fries is one of the best heavyweights on the planet today. He’s a different animal than he was his last stint in the UFC, and he would give anyone in the division a hard time,” Lewandowski told MMA Junkie. “Outside of the UFC, there aren’t many heavyweights who can offer Ngannou a legitimate test. Of course, it has to make sense for KSW and PFL. But I am in good contact with Ray Sefo and the PFL, and I would be ready to do what I can to make it happen. »

Several scenarios need to unfold before a cross-promotion between KSW and PFL can materialize. First and foremost, De Fries (23-6) must make his ninth consecutive title defense on Saturday when he meets Szymon Bajor (24-9) in the main event of KSW 84, which will take place at Gdynia Arena. in Poland and which will be broadcast in pay-per-view on the official KSW website. He will try to put a better knockout than his KSW 83 counterpart. After this event and that of Francis Ngannou, discussions can be launched.
