Kickboxing Fight of the Century: Rodtang vs Takeru at ONE 172 in Tokyo
The long-awaited kickboxing super fight between Rodtang Jitmuangnon and Takeru Segawa has been announced by ONE Championship.
Rodtang and Takeru will face each other across five rounds on Sunday 23 March in Tokyo in the main event of ONE 172.
Nicknamed “The Iron Man” for his knockout power and ability to absorb strikes, 27-year-old Rodtang owns an incredible 273-43 overall professional record in Muay Thai and Kickboxing.
The Thai megastar dominated the flyweight Muay Thai division, holding the ONE Flyweight Muay Thai world championship between August 2018 and November 2024 when he was stripped of his title after missing weight ahead of defending the championship against Jacob Smith.
Rodtang has established himself as an icon at ONE Championship, amassing a 16-2 record with a list of impressive wins at the expense of veterans and rising stars, including two victories against ONE Bantamweight Kickboxing world champion Jonathan Haggerty.
Although he lost to MMA great Demetrious Johnson in a mixed rules fight back in March 2022, Rodtang’s only loss under striking rules came at the hands of compatriot and two-sport king Superlek Kiatmoo via a controversial unanimous decision.
Meanwhile, Takeru is one of Japan’s best kickboxing stars in recent memory. The 33-year-old kickboxing icon dominated the Japanese scene, capturing the K-1 world championship in three weight divisions.
After a disappointing debut loss to Superlek, Takeru returned with a knockout victory against Thant Zin at ONE Friday Fights 81 on 27 September 2024.
Rodtang and Takeru lock horns in a must-watch kickboxing fight at ONE 172 in Tokyo on Sunday 23 March 2025.
