ONE Bantamweight Kickboxing world champion Jonathan Haggerty says he is ready to defend his belt against Wei Rui at ONE 171: Qatar.
Speaking exclusively to Al Jazeera English, Haggerty expressed his delight to be competing in the event which is set to take place inside the Lusail Sports Arena on Thursday, February 20 after attending ONE 166, ONE Championship’s Qatar debut last March.
Despite being fully prepared to take on Wei Rui tomorrow, Haggerty is wary of the danger the Chinese veteran poses.
“My opponent is very dangerous. We can’t take him lightly. He’s got a 70-3 record which is very good, very impressive, and he’s the number one [in the bantamweight kickboxing rankings] for a reason, so it’s up to me now to be the best version of myself there. We’re ready, we’re ready for anything that he brings,” Haggery told Al Jazeera.
ONE 171: Qatar kicks off at 5:00 PM Mecca and will be broadcast live via beIN SPORTS.
