Former UFC fighter and training partner of Khamzat Chimaev, Reza Madadi has responded to Khabib Nurmagomedov’s comments following his teammate’s failed weigh-in at UFC 279.
What a crazy week UFC 279 was. One of the less exciting Pay Per Views of the year on paper, which within hours, after a press conference was canceled following a backstage altercation , has seen its main combat map be almost completely overhauled. A cascade of unpredictable events, the first element of which is the completely failed weighing of Khamzat Chimaev.
Supposed to face Nate Diaz in the main event of the evening, the rising welterweight / middleweight star appeared on the scales with an excess baggage of 3.4 kilos. A catastrophic weigh-in that will push the UFC matchmakers to balance the fights, by raising Khamzat in category, to face Kevin Holland. A last minute change that will not deny Borz, winning in less than three minutes.
Former lightweight champion of the organization, Khabib Nurmagomedov spoke about these last minute changes, and in particular the weighing of Khamzat, which he believes is intimately linked to the fact that his team lacks Muslims to guide him. If this statement did not make the main interested party react, one of his training partners wished to express his disagreement, within an extremely respectful message.
