Khamzat Chimaev plans to bring Paulo Costa to tears at UFC 294 this fall. The Chechen wants to make pay for the words of the Brazilian.
Chimaev, the undefeated UFC star, finally is set to make his return to the octagon after a little more than a year. Chimaev (12-0 MMA, 6-0 UFC) takes on Costa in a middleweight bout Oct. 21 at UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi. He sees it as an easy opportunity to cash in a check.
Last week, UFC President Dana White made a big announcement: Khamzat Chimaev and Paulo Costa will face off at UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates on October 21, 2023. Additionally, the card will see the return of Islam Makhachev and Nassourdin Imavov. Costa was scheduled to make his return against Ikram Aliskerov at UFC 291 in Salt Lake City, Utah next week, but that 185-pound clash didn’t really make sense. However, a fight against the former welterweight is clearly a can’t refuse offer.

Khamzat Chimaev wants to make Costa cry
The matchup between “Borz” and “The Eraser” was rumored for several months and was the fight the fanbase wanted. The friction between the two middleweights has been well-documented, as they had an inside run-in at UFC Apex last year and have been taunting each other online ever since.
Khamzat Chimaev, who had flaunted his imposing physique right after the fight was announced, has been absent from the octagon for most of the year, was ringside at UFC London on Saturday, July 22, 2023 as a special guest fighter. During the fights, Chimaev spoke to TNT Sports backstage to preview his upcoming fight against Costa, promising to make his opponent cry.
“I’m going to make this guy cry in the cage like I always do,” Chimaev said. “I don’t know, I’m going to make this guy cry and go home to Brazil. Nobody likes him, that’s why all Brazilians support me. This guy is not a Brazilian, so I will hit him and make him cry”.
The preparations for this fight will continue to heat up, with a little humor as a bonus. The final weeks before UFC 294 promise to be explosive.
