UFC middleweight contender Khamzat Chimaev has seemingly battled more than just a hand injury since his last Octagon appearance. Chimaev made his return after more than a year of absence last October in Abu Dhabi, where he was one of the headliners at the UFC 294 pay-per-view against Kamaru Usman. The two men clashed at middleweight, with the UAE representative of Chechen origin losing his original opponent, Paulo Costa, to an infection.

In a now-deleted tweet, Chimaev revealed that he was also dealing with a serious illness. Along with a caption, the 29-year-old posted a series of disturbing images that show the effects of the unnamed health condition.
