Newly crowned undisputed ONE Strawweight MMA world champion Joshua Pacio was relieved to capture a surprise win that defied all the odds against Jarred Brooks at ONE 171: Qatar.
Pacio survived a difficult first round to dominate the second round en route to a huge second-round TKO against the interim champion inside the Lusail Sports Arena.
The 29-year-old Filipino star expressed his happiness with a decisive trilogy win that silences the critics.
“The win was just a release for me because there were a lot of people talking behind me, doubting me. ‘You can’t do it. You can’t do it,’ Pacio said.
“You know, at the end of the day, I was just very focused on winning and training. I’ve been through a lot because of the injuries, but, you know, it’s just a relief. There’s so much joy and happiness,” he added.
The ONE Strawweight MMA world title unification bout victory proved that Pacio belongs to the very best and pushed his overall professional record to 23-4.
