With the win, fighter Jonathan Martinez now has something in common with Edson Barboza, the headliner at UFC Fight Night 230, after he scored another TKO win with leg kicks.

In a tough bout, Martinez (19-4 MMA, 10-3 UFC) faced Adrian Yanez on the main card of the event at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas in what was expected to be an exciting bantamweight bout between two powerful strikers. Martinez was able to touch the left leg of Yanez (16-5 MMA, 5-2 UFC), resulting in a TKO at 2:26 of the second round.
As soon as Martinez discovered the opponent’s weak points, he began hitting Yanez’s left leg with strong calf kicks.
Midway through the round, he connected with a kick that caused Yanez to stumble while heavily favoring his side. Martinez continued to press and looked for another kick, but Yanez did well to recover to prevent the ball from being shot into the goal.
While Yanez responded with punches to keep Martinez honest, it was only a matter of time before another powerful kick hit his calf, sending Yanez tumbling to the canvas. Somehow, the fight continued into the second round, but it didn’t last much longer.
Martinez methodically stalked and waited for gaps to launch more heavy attacks on his left leg. He sent Yanez to the mat twice in the second round with leg kicks. The second time, referee Kerry Hatley decided to stop the fight.
