Johan Ghazali: The Meteoric Rise of a Young Star in ONE Championship

At just 17 years old, Malaysian-American sensation Johan “Jojo” Ghazali has taken the world of combat sports by storm with his performances in ONE Championship.

Known for his electric fighting style, fearless attitude, and composure, Ghazali has quickly built a reputation as one of the most exciting prospects in Muay Thai today.

Ghazali is scheduled to face Diego Paez inside Bangkok’s iconic Lumpinee Stadium an exciting flyweight Muay Thai bout at ONE Championship show ONE Fight Night 32 which kicks off at 4:00 AM Mecca and will be broadcast live via beIN SPORTS and watch.onefc.com.

Explosive Debut and Early Success

Ghazali first made his mark at ONE Friday Fights, where he immediately caught the attention of fans and analysts alike. In his debut, he delivered a stunning performance, scoring a 16-second knockout.

After four wins, including three by knockouts, at weekly fight series ONE Friday Fights, Ghazali knocked out Mexico’s Edgar Tabares in the first round at ONE Fight Night 17.

Facing Tougher Competition

In June 2024, the young striker endured his first loss in ONE Championship at the hands of Vietnamese veteran Nguyen Tran Duy Nhat via unanimous decision. However, Ghazali made an instant comeback by knocking out Mexico’s Josue Cruz in the first round later in September.

In early 2025, Ghazali faced a major test against the undefeated Colombian striker Johan “Panda Kick” Estupinan. Although Ghazali showed incredible heart and skill, even knocking Estupinan down early, he eventually fell short by unanimous decision after a hard-fought battle.

Despite the setback, Ghazali has shown enough skill and heart that will surely guide him back to winning. As one of the fastest-rising Muay Thai stars in the world today, Ghazali knows that a win against Diego Paez will boost his status further in “the art of the eight limbs”.
