Jarred Brooks bagged the ONE Interim Strawweight MMA world title with a first-round submission win against Gustavo Balart in the main event of ONE Fight Night 24.
Brooks managed to force his Cuban opponent to tap out at 4:39 of the first round inside the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
The number 1 ranked American athlete quickly dragged Balart to the canvas and clung to his back until he successfully applied a rear-naked choke.
Balart defended well, but Brooks kept squeezing until he forced the third-ranked athlete to tap out.
With this win, Brooks raises his professional record to 21-3, scoring his 11th finish, and setting up a world title unification bout against divisional king Joshua Pacio.
The 31-year-old also received his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt in the ring from esteemed coach and multi-time IBJJF World Champion Alex Hodi.
