Israel Adesanya has promised fight fans a UFC 298 title fight against Alex Pereira.
UFC 298 will take place on February 17, 2024 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
Israel Adesanya and Alex Pereira have faced each other twice in the octagon. In November 2022, at UFC 281, Pereira (9-2 MMA) defeated Adesanya (24-3 MMA) by TKO to win the middleweight title. The two men then met again in April 2023 at UFC 287, where “The Last Stylebender” knocked out “Poatan” to regain the under-84 kilo title. Is a trilogy on the horizon? Following Pereira’s latest TKO victory over Jiří Procházka (29-4 MMA) at UFC 295, the 36-year-old spoke to Adesanya during his post-fight interview.
Israel Adesanya becomes a troll ..Although such a fight was quickly dismissed by UFC CEO Dana White, Adesanya apparently took to Instagram to tease that a trilogy fight was in the works for UFC 298.
Israel Adesanya has shared an unofficial UFC 298 poster, which features Alexander Volkanovski (26-3 MMA) defending his featherweight title against undefeated Ilia Topuria (14-0 MMA). The poster also features Israel Adesanya taking on Alex Pereira in a light heavyweight title fight.
Was a Black Friday ad. pic.twitter.com/wYGXUw1OTU

Fans got excited, but it was a waste of time, as the poster was part of a collage alongside a promotional image of Engage, Adesanya’s combat sportswear brand, advertising a discount 80% off for Black Friday. Adesanya later posted photos of himself and Volkanovski laughing. It’s obvious that the two men just wanted to get people’s attention for their Black Friday promotion and it seemed to work.
The callout from Alex Pereira, the newly minted UFC light-heavyweight champion, during his post-fight interview caught the attention of Israel Adesanya. Their rivalry history is incredibly long.
