Topuria, who holds an unbeaten record in mixed martial arts, quickly rose to the top of the featherweight division after delivering a stunning knockout win over Alexander Volkanovski earlier this year to claim the title.
The “Matador,” who debuted in the UFC in October 2020 under Dana White’s promotion, only needed six fights to catapult himself into title contention. His incredible victory over Volkanovski at UFC 298 shocked the world, finishing the Australian in the second round and placing himself atop the 145-pound division.
On the other hand, Max Holloway is a UFC veteran, having fought 29 times since his debut in 2012. Holloway, who has never been knocked out or submitted in the UFC, has suffered notable losses by decision, including a defeat to Conor McGregor in 2013.
Holloway first claimed the featherweight title in 2017 and defended it three times before losing it to Volkanovski. Despite a series of losses to Volkanovski, Holloway bounced back with a knockout win over Justin Gaethje at UFC 300, earning the BMF title in what is arguably the fight of 2024.
Now, with Topuria aiming to make history and Holloway looking to protect his legacy, their showdown at UFC 308 promises to be one of the most highly anticipated fights of the year.
