How Nong-O Became a Muay Thai Legend at ONE Championship
Thai veteran Nong-O Hama has established himself as a Muay Thai icon throughout his career that includes a legendary world title run in ONE Championship.
Nong-O will face third-ranked flyweight Kongthoranee Sor Sommai in a highly anticipated Muay Thai rematch in the main event of ONE Fight Night 31: Kongthoranee vs Nong-O II in the morning hours of Saturday, May 3.
The 38-year-old legend hopes to return to his best after going 1-3 in his last four fights. Before Nong-O faces his compatriot and rising star, we look at the veteran’s impressive world title run in ONE Championship.
1. Nong-O Outclasses Han Zi Hao
Nong-O picked up a deserved unanimous decision against Han Zi Hao, snapping the Chinese star’s four-win-streak and capturing the inaugural ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai world title in February 2019.
2. Nong-O Dominates Hiroaki Suzuki
A few months later, Nong-O successfully defended his world title against Hiroaki Suzuki, dominating the Japanese challenger over five rounds and beating him via unanimous decision.
3. Nong-O Outguns Brice Delval
Nong-O’s second world title defense came in September 2019against Brice Delval in a close encounter in which he narrowly the Algerian challenger using his championship mindset and toughness that most impressed ONE’s global fan base.
4. Nong-O Knocks Out Saemapetch
Two months later, Nong-O scored the first of five straight knockout victories against Saemapetch Fairtex. The veteran senthis compatriot crumbling to the canvas with a straight right hand midway through the fourth round.
5. Nong-O Dominates Rodlek
Around a year later, Nong-O faced ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai Tournament winner Rodlek PK Saenchai, unleashing furious punching combinations before landing his trademark straight right hand that knocked out his challenger in the third round.
6. Nong-O Demolishes Felipe Lobo
In March 2022, Nong-O knocked out Brazil’s Felipe Lobo in the third with a right uppercut, picking up his third knockout victory in a row.
7. Nong-O Stuns Liam Harrison
In August 2022, Nong-O successfully defended his ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai world title against Liam Harrison at ONE Fight Night 1. This time, the Thai veteran used heavy kicks to Harrison’s lead leg. The Brit was unable to stand again, and the matchup ended inside of the first round.
8. Nong-O Overwhelms Alaverdi Ramazanov
In January 2023, Nong-O successfully defended his world title again at ONE Friday Fights 1, pouring the pressure against Alaverdi Ramazanov before unloading a ruthless combination punctuated by a massive body shot that finished the challengerin the fourth round.
