He bites his opponent and gets disqualified, something never seen before in the UFC!

UFC fighter gor Severino suffered his first defeat in bizarre fashion as he was disqualified for biting his opponent Andre Lima in their flyweight clash  UFC Vegas 89, an unexpected action occurred, resulting in a disqualification.

UFC star Igor Severino set an unwanted record as he was disqualified for BITING his opponent Andre Lima.

The opening round between the two undefeated Brazilians was evenly contested but things took a turn for the worst during a grappling exchange in the second round. Severino tried to take Lima down to the canvas but Lima signalled that something was wrong to referee Chris Tognoni, who called a halt to the action.

The instant replay showed that Severino bit Lima on his left bicep with enough force to leave clear teeth marks on his skin. Severino was then disqualified for his illegal actions and is now the only fighter in the 30-year history of the UFC to be disqualified for biting their opponent.

Following this, Igor Severino was logically disqualified by the referee. As a reminder, biting is prohibited in MMA, and the young Brazilian deviated from the rule. Thus, he recorded a first defeat in his professional career, bringing his record to 8-1. According to journalist Kevin Iole, the author of the bite will be fired by the UFC.

For his part, Andre Lima maintains his invincibility with this victory which he will remember for a long time. The fighter nicknamed ‘Mascote’ now has a record of 8-0.

An episode which inevitably recalls Mike Tyson’s bite on Evander Holyfield’s ear in a boxing fight in 1997. ‘Iron’ was also disqualified that evening.
